Statement
My Graphic Design education and career in Melbourne in the 1970s led me into secondary and tertiary level teaching in the Visual Arts. Water colour and collage became my major media due to travelling abroad and living in many countries and working in Educational Psychology. I enjoy learning from the arts of many cultures and being inspired at exhibitions and gallery collections where ever I roam. My opportunities were in UK, Italy, Colombia, Ecuador, Canada, USA and Paris. I particularly relish the challenge of creating images using our magical painting materials and tools. To connect with nature I usually get up close to my subjects using a portrait-like approach to flowers, animals, and human shapes and activities. I use figurative forms plus spontaneous glazes of colour to interest and entertain the viewers of my art works. My pictures interpreting nature reside in private homes in countries I have lived. I now very thankfully call our Sunshine Coast my hallowed home in Australia.
