As an artist I am more interested in painting the feeling of a scene than realism. I prefer to think colour is more interesting than reality, aiming to intensify the emotion of the subject matter thorough the use of colour. I attempt to see more colour in the scene than is really there.
I was drawn to watercolour from the spontaneity and lightness it can bring as well as the amazing colour you can achieve in layering. In the past two years I have focused on negative painting and using wax to create batik effects on the paper. I continue to try to find a new way to express the sentiment in the scene.
